Imagine a sultry night on the streets of Rio de Janeiro, pulsing with the rhythms of the samba, transported intact to the clubs and concert halls of the Eastern U.S. That is the essence of PhillyBloco, an 18-member band that captures the driving yet lyrical flow of Brazilian samba music. In a special concert that encourages the audience to get up and dance to the band's magnetic sound, PhillyBloco mixes the tropical thrumming of multiple drums with horns, vocals and dancers to create an engaging musical experience.
